Johnny William Thornes

Mr. Johnny W. Thornes, 77, husband of the late Jeanette Ayres Thornes, and a resident of Parksley, VA, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, Va.

Born April 6, 1938 in Bloxom, VA, he was a son of the late Elton Calvin Thornes and Marion Annis Thornes.  Johnny was a longtime waterman and outboard mechanic.  He was a member of Guilford United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his son, John Douglas Thornes of ­­­­­­­Boynton Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Joshua Alan Graham and Cheyanne Elizabeth Thornes; a great-grandson, Joshua Alan Graham, Jr.; and a great-granddaughter, Aubrie Graham.   In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, E.C. and Woodrow Thornes.

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Monday, June 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., with the Reverend Wayne Asbury officiating.  Interment will follow in the Liberty Cemetery.  There will be a visitation at the funeral home Sunday, June 14, 2015, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
