What a bright light was Nancy. She was one of the dearest, most thoughtful ladies I have been blessed to know. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.

Ms. Nancy was one of the kindest, warmest and most thoughtful people that I have ever been so blessed to know. She always made it a priority to share with us her grand and delicious garden bounty. Her watermelon rind pickles were and are still the best I've ever had. My condolences to her family, you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Ms. Nancy, you will truly be missed more than you may have ever known. God Bless.

Nancy was a wonderful friend and neighbor. We visited frequently, sharing nursing experiences, recipes and gardening hints. When my dog, Lucy and I stopped in, Nancy always had dog treats shaped like mailmen. She thought of everyone, even Lucy. She could frequently be seen bustling about preparing meals, baking or delivering food to someone in need. I always thought that the reason Pastor and Mrs. Richardson lived to be so elderly was due to the custard Nancy so faithfully made for them several times a week. It either kept them healthy or they didn't want to miss a bite of it. For many years, when I have heard the word "Christian," my first thoughts are of Nancy and another dear friend that I met in Onancock. If we could all emulate Nancy Russell, the world would definitely be a better place. I would like to say "Rest in Peace, Sweet Nancy,"but that is not her style. She is most likely making custard or determining where she can find black walnuts in heaven. Thank you for all you taught me and know how much I loved you. We are all better people for having known you.

Nancy was always sooooooo generous with the bounty of her amazing garden! The most wonderful basket or bag of tomatoes, squash or cucumbers would arrive on my doorstep. We had great times swapping recipes and she was such a positive supporter of my Weight Watcher efforts. I will miss her generous spirit.
My favorite image of Nancy is shucking oysters at the Neely's oyster roast and putting the rest of us to shame, in our efforts to keep up. "Keep on shuckin' " Nancy dear!
