Sandra Phipps

Mrs. Sandra Jean Phipps, 61, wife of David Evans Phipps and a resident of Locustville, Va., passed away on Friday, July 31, 2015, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, Va.

Born February 8, 1954 in Westbrook, Maine, she was a daughter of the late Granville August Shaw and Elizabeth May Plummer Shaw.  Sandra was owner and operator of Watch Dog Kennels, and a former Administrative Assistant in the electrical department of V.T. Griffith.  She was a ‘U.S. Coast Guard Wife’ for twenty years; very talented and enjoyed crafts and quilting; loved animals, boating, fishing, and riding her motorcycle; but mainly treasured spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, David, survivors include two daughters, Crystel Phipps Fitchett and husband Buster, of Melfa, Va., and Elizabeth Kay Phipps and Matt Holick, of Painter, Va.; a grandson, William David “Buster” Fitchett, Jr.; a brother, Melvin Shaw and wife Debbie, of Standish, Maine; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.  Besides her parents, Sandra was predeceased by two sisters, Beverly and Minnie, both formerly of Maine.

A memorial service to celebrate her life, will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home, Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., with The Reverend Glenda Turlington officiating.
