Betty Sparrow Groton
January 19, 1933 ~ March 29, 2015 (age 82) 82 Years OldMrs. Betty Sparrow Groton, 82, of Onancock, Va., wife of the late William Emory “Bill” Groton, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Md.
Born January 19, 1933 in Harborton, Va., she was the daughter of the late Harry Sparrow and Carrie Marsh Sparrow Matthews. Betty was a devoted and faithful member of Market Street United Methodist Church; a former Administrative Assistant at NASA Wallops Flight Center; and thoroughly enjoyed serving as a Tour Guide with Blondee’s Express Tours. She was a member of the Eastern Shore Homemakers Club and the Women’s Group at Wallops. Her love of her church and traveling, were treasured parts of her life.
Survivors include Ruth Hope Zember and her family; Harry Parker and his wife Pat, and their family; her travel family, Blondee and Bobby; and a host of very dear friends.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Market Street United Methodist Church in Onancock, on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., with The Reverends J. Barton Weakley, Kirk R. Mariner and G. Wayne Parsley officiating. Interment will be held at the John W. Taylor Cemetery in Temperanceville, Va., that afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
