Mrs. Lucille Phillips Smith, 92, wife of the late Howard Shipley Smith and a resident of Melfa, Va., formerly of Deep Creek, Va., passed away at her residence on Thursday, April 21, 2016.
Born August 30, 1923 in Deep Creek, she was a daughter of the late William Soren Savage and Annie Mae Lurton Savage. Mrs. Smith was retired as a housekeeper at the Hermitage on the Eastern Shore; and member of Leatherbury United Methodist Church, where she was active in United Methodist Women and former church pianist.
Survivors include her two children, Rudy Lee Smith and his wife Brenda, of Harrisonburg, Va., and Peggy Smith Morgan and her husband Joe, of Melfa; four grandchildren, Joanna Joy Stover, Justin Howard Smith, Joseph Clayton Morgan, Jr., and Ashlyn Morgan Belote; five great-grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Lexy Stover, Logan Smith, Myles Belote, Jr., and Katherine Morgan; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Nina Savage Courtney and Veda Savage; and five brothers, Rufus, William J., H. Calvin, Wilfred and James Savage.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Leatherbury United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., with The Reverend JoLynn Hart officiating. Interment will follow in the Onancock Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home, Friday, April 22, 2016, from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m.
