Richard Frank Ditton
June 27, 1934 ~ September 7, 2016 (age 82) 82 Years OldMr. Richard Frank Ditton, 82, beloved husband of Adrienne Bowcock Ditton, resident of the Hermitage on the Eastern Shore, in Onancock, VA, formerly of Lanoka Harbor, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 7, 2016.
Born June 27, 1934 in Lakewood, NJ, he was a son of the late Paul Ditton and Eleanore Robbiani Ditton. Richard grew up in Lanoka Harbor where he met, and later married, his high school sweetheart. He was a member of the Freemasons, proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard, and later owned and operated a successful garden center, for many years. Richard was a licensed pilot and he and Adrienne would often take trips together, traveling the world. He loved to train and race horses and participated in races in Delaware, New Jersey, and New York, over the years. Richard will be remembered for the infinite love and support he gave to his family throughout his life.
In addition to his loving wife of sixty years, he is survived by two daughters, Dianna Marie Caruso and husband Gino of Forked River, NJ; and Carol Ann Taylor and husband George Wesley of Millsboro, DE; sister, Eleanor Moore and husband Shep of Lanoka Harbor; sister-in-law, Eleanor Ditton of Forked River; two grandchildren, Angela Marie and Anthony Michael Caruso of Forked River; great-grandson, Colton Anthony Caruso; one great-great grandchild, two nieces; and five nephews. Other than his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Madeline McKay and husband Mack; and a brother, Paul Ditton.
A memorial service will be held at the Hermitage on the Eastern Shore, in Onancock, VA, on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., with the Reverend Robert Fletcher officiating.
