Tony Kluis

Anthony Kluis, 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 12, 2016.  He was an active member of his church and The Gideons International.

Born September 24, 1935 in Boskoop, Holland, he was a son of the late John and Johanna Kluis.  In 1950, he and his family immigrated to the US and lived in New Jersey.  He later moved to the Eastern Shore of Virginia, where he was a longtime nurseryman.  As co-owner and operator of Kluis Nurseries, he ran a successful business, for many years.  He recently moved to Salisbury, MD.

Tony leaves behind his beloved wife, Lynn, and the remainder of his family, including a son, David (who predeceased him in 2013), David’s wife and daughter, Evonne and Audrey Kluis, of Virginia Beach, VA; a daughter, Karen Banks, and her husband Kevin (who predeceased him in June 2016), and her daughter, Katie Banks, of Salisbury; a sister, Tina Kurrelmeyer of Shelberne, VT; two brothers, Gerry Kluis and his wife Clara, of Newark, DE, and John Kluis and his wife Nancy, of Onley, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Tony’s life will be held at Baptist Bible Church in Accomac, VA, on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., with the Reverend Robert Fletcher officiating.  Private burial will be held, prior to the church service, at Fairview Lawn Cemetery in Onancock, VA.
