Ed Bachmann

Mr. Edward Henry “Ed” Bachmann, 67, husband of Valentina “Vally” Bachmann and a resident of East Point, Onancock, Va. since 2002, formerly of Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, Va.

Born December 11, 1947 in Richmond, Va., and native of Newport News, Va., he was a son of the late Andrew John Bachmann and Edna Rau Bachmann.  Ed was a computer systems analyst with the United States Government, developing programs for the Department of Health and Human Resources.  He enjoyed boat building, both models and working boats; bird watching and nature; traveling; and found great pleasure in exploring the ‘roads not taken’ that were off the beaten path of life.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Paul Bachmann and his wife Heather, of Glenelg, Md., and Christopher Bachmann; two grandchildren, Grace and Alden Bachmann; a brother, John A. Bachmann and his wife Carol Scott, of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Jane “Clai” Bachmann of Williamsburg, Va.; four step-children, Michael, Jennifer, Matthew and Julia; five step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Other than his parents, Ed was predeceased by a brother, Andrew G. Bachmann.

A viewing will be held at the chapel of the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home, Monday, March 9, 2015, from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m., with a reception to celebrate Ed’s life to immediately follow, at Mallard’s at the Wharf, 2 Market Street, Onancock, Va.
