Mildred Mapp “Millie” Mason, cherished wife of David F. Mason and longtime resident of Onancock, VA, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017 with her family at her side.  

Born August 28, 1942 in Nassawadox, VA, and raised in Accomac, VA, she was a daughter of the late George Walter Mapp, Jr. and Rebecca Douglass Mapp.  Millie attended St. Catherine’s School in Richmond, VA, Garland Junior College in Boston, MA, and graduated from the University of Virginia.  Millie spent her life caring for her family and as an active leader among many organizations including The Hermitage Guild, Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Market Street United Methodist Church, and the Onancock Volunteer Fire Department, where she called bingo for many years.  She was a Director of the A&N Electric Cooperative for twenty-nine years and a past member of the Garden Club of the Eastern Shore, where she filled many roles, including President.  Millie was known for her generous and graceful spirit and was loved by all who knew her. 

In addition to her husband, Millie is survived by her daughters, Rebecca S. Bresee and husband Harrison, Christian S. Parks and husband Bache; grandchildren, Claire Bresee, Cameron Bresee, Eva Parks, Michael Parks, and Bethany Parks; sisters, Margaret M. Young and husband Richard W. Young, and Carolyn M. Hewes and husband George Lemuel Hewes.

Friends and family are invited to attend her graveside service at the Mason home, Bailywicke, 24311 Bailey Neck Drive, Onancock, on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 2:00pm. 

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Market Street United Methodist Church, 75 Market Street, Onancock, VA 23417 or to the Onancock Volunteer Fire Department, P. O. Box 28, Onancock, VA 23417.
